Programming could be compared to composing. Some are naturals at it, others learn it through studying. Either way, there is a lot of coding involved. AMKoodari is a training programme for everyone who would like to study a new profession, update their existing skill sets, change careers or otherwise learn new skills through their innate creativity.

Who is it for?

AMKoodari is a great starting point for those who dream of becoming professional programmers, but the courses can also be taken by people looking to supplement their existing coding skills or change careers. It can also be used as employee training by companies. You can study full-time or on the side while you work. The training is geared towards people of all levels other than current university degree programme students.

The universities of applied sciences providing the training are responsible partners with plenty of experience in working together with companies and organisations. The universities are located in the capital region, Uusimaa, Häme, Southern Pirkanmaa, South-Eastern Finland and Southern Savonia. The courses are primarily online, meaning you can study them regardless of time and location, both in Finland and from abroad.

Could I be a programmer?

It’s easy to find out: choose a course that suits your needs and interests, and you’ll be able to try out programming right away. Programming may initially seem like studying difficult programming languages, but once you get going, you’ll realise it’s simply a matter of solving logic problems. Once you’ve gotten familiar with the basics and one or more programming languages, you may go on to pick courses aiming towards professional programming. There is a massive shortage of programmers, and you can find open job positions within all industries.

Finland is one of the leading countries in the games industry. Games are not just for entertainment; they are also utilised in many other fields, such as education. In addition to game design and programming, a game designer’s competencies include knowledge of game engines and other tools.
